William Gerald Bowers, 73, of Waterford, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on March 28, 1942, the son of the late Donald and Frances Bowers.
Bill worked at Penn Union, Jays Auto Wrecking, Troyer Land Resources and Hillcrest Auto.
Whether he was simply working on his tractor, cutting firewood, or out hunting, Bill was happiest outdoors. He enjoyed spending time in the garage working on cars and driving fast. He was a NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fanatic. Throughout his life, Bill was part of many bowling leagues. His favorites were Slim Jim's and Pepsi. He was known as a people person, constantly playing tricks and jokes on his loved ones, but most importantly, Bill would drop everything for anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and James Bowers; two sisters, Donna McDowell and Shirley Jostes; also a grandson, Cody Bowers.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 48 years, Nancy (Maruca) Bowers; a son, James (Laverne) Bowers of Waterford; three daughters, Tina (Rod) Klie of Cambridge Springs, Billie Jo (Alvey) Lester and Bettie Jo (Chris Cesnick) Bowers all of Waterford; four brothers, Jack, Dick, Ed and Fred Bowers; four sisters, Betty Wagner, Jayne Landers, Judy Cummings, and Peggy Bowers; also, 9 grandchildren, Dalton, Tyler, Josie, Ossie, Harlie, Raven, Dakota, Sky, Summer; and one great grandson, Carter.
Memorial Services will be at the Venango VFW Post #169, 20628 Gospel Hill Rd, Venango, PA 16440 at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 with Rev. Duane Pinney officiating.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
