William J. (Bill) Beisel, of Edinboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born in New York, NY, in 1943, grew up in Hazleton, PA, and lived in Edinboro, PA for 48 years.
Bill was passionate and fun loving with a great gift for cooking, storytelling, and funny jokes. He loved cooking, music, sailing, skiing, model airplanes, and many other hobbies too numerous to name.
Bill was a graduate of Penn State University and an avid Nittany Lion fan. He was a music teacher and band director in Spartansburg, PA, and General McLane High School in the late 1960s. After teaching, Bill had other interesting careers - stock broker, insurance salesman, food and beverage manager, and chef.
He was very proud of his daughters and grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dawn (Greenawalt) Beisel, of Edinboro; daughter, Amy and her husband Douglas Hill, of Harrisburg, PA; daughter Susan and her husband Ryan Miscavige, and grandsons Ethan and Aaron Miscavige, of Etters, PA.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William John Beisel and Mildred (Slusser) Beisel of Hazleton, PA. He was an only child.
A receiving hour with the family will be held at Nick’s Place, 12246 Route 99, Edinboro, on Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a prayer service and celebration of life luncheon.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
