Wendy Swanson Sayers, age 58, of Edinboro, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie. Wendy was born in DuBois, on Sept. 25, 1955 to Mary Ellen Allshouse Swanson, and the late Lawrence Swanson.
Wendy graduated from DuBois High School, where she participated in Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Choir, and as a Majorette. She went on to graduate from Penn State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. Wendy spent over 30 years of her nursing career with Saint Vincent Health System, working at Edinboro Medical Center and caring for her adopted community. After many years working as a registered nurse, she became the office manager and recently became a clinical supervisor for the Saint Vincent Medical Group. She truly enjoyed working in the community in which she and her family lived and was everyone's favorite go to gal for nursing advice. She loved making people laugh, she spoke her mind and easily took on a motherly role wherever she went. Wendy also spent her time in the Edinboro community volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, as a member of the Shadbush club, and participating in various service projects through Edinboro United Methodist Church and Boro Women's Services. Recently, Wendy also enjoyed volunteering as an usher at the Erie Playhouse. Most of all, she loved people and loved spending time with family and friends.
