Walter Staub

Walter R. Staub, 87, of Edinboro passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Pittsburgh on April 5, 1933, the son of the late Elmer and Anna (Vogel) Staub.

Walter served in the US Army and was a decorated Korean War veteran. While serving, he received the following medals: the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal. After serving his country, he went on to work for the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades Local 1066 until the time of his retirement.

Walter enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, watching football and boxing, and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro and an active member of the Edinboro-McKean VFW Post 740.

In addition to Walter's parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Klepach) Staub; his daughter, Ilona (Staub) Montefiori; brothers, Albert and Raymond Staub; and a sister, Alfreda (Fritz) Alukones.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Loomis, of Edinboro; a son, Gregory Staub (David Yeung), of Toronto; a son-in-law, Larry Montefiori, of Erie; a sister, Ruth Ann Staub, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Maryann, Bradley and Bryan (Nicole) Loomis; two great-grandchildren, Maddeline and Gracie; and several nieces and nephews.

The Staub family would like to thank Walter's dear friends, Leonard Flanigan and Jay Renick, for always being there.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 2 to 6 p.m. A service will be held there Friday at 11:00 a.m. All CDC guidelines requiring face masks and social distancing will be in place.
