Virginia May Hayes, 81, of Edinboro, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Girard, on May 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Thomas And Arletah (Showman) Blount.
Virginia was a hard worker all her life. She worked on the family farm raising dairy cows and taking care of her family. She also worked at many other shops around the area. She loved to construct stain glass pictures. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and working Bingo at the Edinboro Vol. Fire Department.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman Hayes, in 1985; and a brother, Charles Blount.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Swahn and her husband, Carl, of McKean; two sons, Blaine Hayes and his wife, Lemoyne, of Circleville, OH, and Kenneth Hayes and his wife, Cindy, of Edinboro; two brothers, Robert Blount and Thomas Blount, Jr.; also, her best friend and aunt, Ruby (Showman) Kovschak; 7 grandchildren; Ted Hayes, Nathan and Brian Anthony, Lisa and Mark Hayes, Jennifer Miller and Paul Hayes; also, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Vernon Troyer officiating.
