Verna Mae Irwin Egloff, 88, of Edinboro, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsburgh, on March 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Albion and Verna Irwin.
Verna Mae was a lifelong sorority member of Beta Sigma Fi. She worked in retail at the Millcreek Mall for many years. She loved working in the garden and planting flowers. Her family was the real joy in her life. Mae came to Edinboro when she was a child spending summers at the family cottage. When she married and had children of her own she continued to bring the family to the lake for the summertime. Mae had eight children, six daughter and two sons; Cheryl Heeter and her husband, Dave, of Kissimmee Fla., Beverly Brickner and her husband, Jack, of Meadville, Karyn DiVito and her husband, Domenic, of Edinboro, Robin Zilian and her husband, David, of Erie, Sandy Hallett and her husband, Alan, of McKean, Kelly Gornall and her husband, Paul, of Erie, Tom Egloff of Erie, and the late Robert Harry Egloff; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces, Patty and Lynn.
Other than her parents and a son, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Horn; two brothers, Harry and Dale Irwin; and two grandchildren, Vincent DiVito and Carter Egloff.
Verna Mae wished for a private ceremony and burial with her children and their families. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
