Ruth Banister, 80, of Erie, died Friday, February 23, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on June 8, 1937, the daughter of the late William and Ruth E. Banister.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan and loved making puzzles into art. She also enjoyed making scrapbooks.
She loved hearing from and spending time with her family.
A special “Thank You” to the Supportive Living Services for their wonderful care, including taking her to many places she enjoyed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, James, William and Robert “Hank” Banister and three sisters, Jean Banister, Dorothy Paszko and Marion Vanco.
Survivors include her two brothers; Tom (Meredith) Banister of FL, and Jack “Jackie” (Rose) Banister of Erie: a sister; Stella Auer of Erie: a sister-in-law Marilyn Banister of McKean: many many nieces and nephews: and her beloved bird, “Tweedy”.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Friends may call at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 W. Main St., McKean, PA on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Mark Nowak officiating.
