Ruby A. Ensign English, 85, of Edinboro died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her home. She was born in Erie on July 11, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Nettie Zilhaver Ensign.
Ruby was an extremely hard worker during her life. She raised a family of three boys while also working on the family farm doing chores and helping where ever she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert S. English in 1994; a brother, Forest Ensign; and two sisters, Opal Ellis and Pearl Carter Salen.
Survivors include her three sons, George English and his wife, Carolyn of Venango, Walter English and his wife, Joni, and Randy English and his wife, Deanna, all of Edinboro; also, 8 grandchildren, George and Timothy English, Lisa Schaefer, Gregory English, Theresa Nicolia, Darey Yaple, Randall and Jeremy English; and 15 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Ashley, Hunter and Colleen English, Christopher Mukina, T.J. Schaefer, Katelyn and Kristyn English, Bryan and Briana Nicolia, Mitchell and Kurtis Yaple, Aiden and Abigail English.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 8:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St, Suite 244, Erie, PA 16501.
