Ronald “Ron” L. Viera, 67, of Edinboro, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 after a brief illness at Select Specialty Hospital. He was born in Erie, on November 13, 1948, the son of Wilfred and Mildred Viera.
Ron was a graduate of General McLane High class of 1967. In his younger years, he worked with his father in the masonry business, then became a conductor for the Bessemer Railroad before buying interest in the McKean Tavern, where he cooked many a good meal for his customers. During this time he became involved in may charity fund raisers and golf outings. Later he enjoyed landscaping through his employment with Evanoff Landscaping and yardman for James Properties. He also enjoyed camping, fishing with friends and watching football and NASCAR.
Ron is survived by his mother, Mildred Viera; companion in life, René Kingston of Edinboro; a son, Michael Viera of Wilcox, AZ; a daughter, Malinda (Todd) Viera Price of Williamsburg, VA; two brothers, William (Helen) and Dennis Viera; three sisters, Patricia (Richard) Boyd, Mary Jane (Daniel) Graziano, and Betty Ann (Richard) Urbanski; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Carleigh Price, and Arlisa and Ashley Muller; and a great-grandson, Jimmy and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Dennison officiating.
