Roger L. Knepshield, 82 of Edinboro, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at home. He was born in Apollo, Pa on April 7, 1939, the son of the late Blaine and Francis Knepshield.
Roger was an accomplished musician and composer with numerous degrees, including BA, Music from Indiana University of PA; MA, Piano Performance from Kent State University; and PhD, Composition and Sacred Music from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a Professor of Music at Edinboro University of PA for 30 years.
Roger was a member of the American Guild of Organists, American Federation of Musicians, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, National Association of Music Educators, and Friends of the Smithsonian. He was also a compassionate supporter of a variety of organizations, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Doctors Without Borders, the Smithsonian Institution, and Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Lynn Knepshield, and a sister, June Storey.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Eileen; a daughter, Lisa Knepshield (married to Mark Hauser), of Evanston, IL; two sisters, Carol Kunselman, of Texas and Marjorie Knepshield, of Maine; and a grandson, Clark Hauser.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 5:00 p.m. All CDC guidelines requiring face masks and social distancing will be in place.
