On Saturday, July 2, 2022, Robert "Bob" McGarvie, loving husband and father of five children, passed away at the age of 76.
Bob was born January 23, 1946 in Erie to Robert and Elaine McGarvie. He graduated from Academy High School in 1965. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Borie (DD-704) during the Vietnam War. He served for a total of six years. Bob was a proud veteran who held membership in VFW #470 as an Adjutant and Edinboro American Legion #439 as a board member. Shortly after leaving the military, he met Denise Mastascusa and they married on August 12, 1978.
Bob was the owner of Bill's Atlantic Service, a local automobile service shop in Erie. He was an avid reader. Bob was a skilled card player who could beat anyone at cards. He was a family man who enjoyed traveling with the family or just spending time together. Sundays in the fall, you could find Bob rooting for his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.
Bob is survived by his wife, Denise; his five children, Misty, Brian, Scott, Adam, and Emily; his seven grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Amber, Alexis, Gavin, Addilyn, and Collin; his three brothers, Richard, Jay, and Tommy; his sister, Sally; and his uncle, Jim DeWolf. Bob was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and loyal friend.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 2 to 6 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
