Robert William Ellis, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Millcreek Manor. He was born on June 5, 1919, son of the late Fred Richard and Alpha Florence Abbott Ellis.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving his country Robert worked as a logger from 1941 until 1958 and at Penn Union from 1964 until 1985. He also farmed off and on throughout his life.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife Opal May Ellis; two brothers Lester and Reed Ellis, and a sister, Ellen Roan.
Survivors include his two sons, Dale Ellis and his wife, Almeda M., of Edinboro and Jack Ellis and his wife, Sandy, of Cambridge Springs; a sister, Edna Miller of Erie; also four grandchildren, Jacqueline Morneau, and husband David; Melissa Ellis-Raydo, and husband Nick; Paul Ellis, and his wife Rachel; and James Ellis, and his wife Shannon; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the McLane Church, 12511 Edinboro Rd, Edinboro, on Sunday, January 20, from 3-5p.m. & 7-9 p.m.. A service will be held there on Monday, January 21, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Shelow officiating. The U.S. Navy Military Honors assisted by the Erie Crawford County Burial Detail will have military honors immediately following the service in McLane Church parking lot. Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, 16412, has been entrusted with the care of Robert's arrangements.
Burial will be at McLane Cemetery.
