Richard E. “Dick” Sweeney, 83, of McKean died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at St. Mary's East in Erie. He was born in Erie on September 29, 1934, the son of the late Everett and Helen Sweeney.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and golfing. His family meant the world to him, and he loved the family gatherings that they had and the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He was a charter member of the local Lions Club.
He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 22 years.
He owned and operated Sweeney & Son Heating and Cooling, and also worked at Pete Schaaf Builders.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Sweeney; 2 sons, Brian (Michelle) Sweeney of Erie, John Sweeney of Edinboro; a daughter, Colleen (Douglas) Sherk of VA; 2 sisters; Lois Bartlett of NJ, Kathleen (William) Foster of New Castle; 5 grandchildren, Amber (Raymond) Sylvis, Justin Sweeney, Brandon Sweeney, Ashlee Sherk, and Joshua Sweeney, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 3 p.m. until the time of a service at 7 p.m., with Rev. Curtis MacDonald officiating.
