Richard A. “Dick” DeMichael, 82, of Edinboro, formerly of Girard, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at home. He was born in Erie on January 29, 1936 the son of the late Gustave DeMichael and Pasqualina Alessi.
Dick was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed woodworking and built toys for Santa's Helpers for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for four years and was then called back for duty during the Berlin conflict.
Dick was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He was employed by Lord Corporation for over 40 years, starting as a trucker and working his way through various positions to supervisor. He was a member of the Lord Corp. Quarter Century Club.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter DeMichele; a sister, Ada Gardner and a stepson, Terry Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Blanche “Betty”; a daughter, Lisa Robson and her companion, Jose Sanchez; three grandchildren, Kelley Groese and her husband, Kevin, Terry Lewis, and Karrie Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice for their wonderful care.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
