Richard L. Billings, age 70, joined the Church Triumphant on Friday, December 11, 2020. Richard, also known as “Rich” or “Dick”, was born in Union City, PA on May 14, 1950.
After graduating from General McLane High School in Edinboro, PA, Richard moved to Miami, FL. There he attended flight school and earned both a pilot’s license and flight instructor’s license. His love of aviation drew him to the airline industry, where he began in cargo handling with National Airlines. As the airline industry consolidated, Richard then worked for Pan Am, and his final airline job was with Delta, where he retired from in 2013.
In retirement, Richard enjoyed riding around on his golf cart, doting on his cat, and enjoying his family and friends. Richard faithfully attended Fayetteville Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe S. Billings and mother, Dorothy C. Billings. He is survived by his sister, Pamela Billings Carpenter, of Las Vegas, NV; nephew, Collier Billings Maxwell, of Las Vegas, NV; and niece, Heather Maxwell Chandler (husband Rafael F. Chandler) and great-nephew, Jack Chandler, of Apex, NC. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 12 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro, 4281 Rte. 6N, Edinboro, PA 16412.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is in charge of funeral arrangements.
