Richard Orton “Dick” Anthony, 80, of Edinboro died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at his home. He was born in Erie on August 22, 1930, the son of the late Margaret Orton Anthony.
Dick graduated from Millcreek High School in 1949. Soon after he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his military service, he worked as a printer for the Erie Times Newspaper and its predecessor the Erie Dispatch. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and loved woodworking. He was known for remolding homes and even building his own houses.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Anthony.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Ann Cote Anthony; two sons, Lee Anthony and his wife Mary Beth of Erie, and Robert Anthony and his wife Rosemarie of Godley, TX; three daughters, Kathy Johnston and her husband Bob of Jamestown, NY, Cheryl Pyle of McKean, Karen Lanzilotta of Cleveland, OH; also, 7 grandchildren, Jamie Pyle, Ashleigh Smith, Sarah Anthony, Steven Anthony, Tim Lanzilotta, Kyle Anthony and Rebekah Anthony; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Mackinsey Smith.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
