Paul Thomas Levis

September 26, 1941 — December 15, 2024

Edinboro

Paul Thomas Levis, of Edinboro, died peacefully December 15, 2024, following a recent illness. He was 83.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally (Lynch) Levis; son Rand and daughter-in-law Adrienne Levis, Erie; son Eric and daughter-in-law Kim Grimard-Levis, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; daughter Jacque and son-in-law John D’Amico, Erie; brother Donald and sister-in-law Karen Levis, Edinboro; and sister-in-law Kathleen (John) Levis, Cranesville. He was preceded in death by his older brother John “Jack” Levis.

Paul was the proud grandfather to 10 grandkids - Madeline (Justin) Tomlinson, Erie; Mason Levis, Baltimore, MD; Justin Levis, Colorado Springs, CO; Marcus (Courtney) D'Amico, Pittsburgh; Danielle (James) Reim, Erie; Nicole D'Amico, Pittsburgh; Collin Levis, Chicago; Ethan Levis, Cleveland; Dylan Levis, Mechanicsburg; and Brennen Levis, Mechanicsburg.

Born in Erie to James and Josephine (Hoffman) Levis, Paul graduated from Technical Memorial High School, where he developed a lifelong interest in golf and first met a young Sally Lynch, who attended Villa Maria and was training to become a registered nurse. They married September 28, 1963. Following graduation, Paul started a successful management career in the grocery and convenience store industry. Paul worked at Kroger’s, Loblaws and Country Fair, where he retired as vice president for sales and marketing.

Paul and Sally loved horses and German shepherds and soon after being married settled on five acres in the Edinboro countryside where they could enjoy riding with their children and tending to what their kids affectionately called the “quasi-farm.” Over the years the Levis property was home to five horses, including Paul’s beloved Quarter Horse and German Shepherds, a scruffy goat, a cantankerous pig, a slew of barn cats, a rooster and some chickens, a handful of other dogs and Jacque’s house cats. Coupled with Edinboro’s famous snow belt, it made for a memorable childhood.

With their children mostly grown, Paul and Sally started an exciting new phase of life. They purchased a sail boat and spent several years enjoying Lake Erie, improved upon their golf games, moved to a new home in Edinboro closer to friends, and traded in the sail boat for an RV and retirement. Most recently, Paul enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
