Merle D. Mills, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Erie, hospice division. He was born on October 11, 1927 on the family homestead in Franklin Township. He was the son of the late Leon and Iva Vogt Mills.
Merle attended Silverthorn School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Fairview Evergreen Nurseries Inc. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1992. Merle enjoyed his hunting camp near Grand Valley. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved gardening.
In addition to his parents Merle was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Anderson Mills, sisters Carolyn Gebhardt and Lucile Lawrence, Brothers Maurice Mills and Everett Mills.
Survivors include, his two sons Mark Mills and his wife Marlene, and Gary Mills and his wife Barb all of Edinboro. Three grandchildren, Kimm Mills of Pittsburgh and Michael and Melanie Mills both of Edinboro. He is also survived by one brother Elwin Mills and one sister Elaine Hinkle both of Fairview.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie St., Edinboro, on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 2 p.m. To 4 p.m. And 7 p.m. until the time of the service at 8:30 p.m..
Burial will be private at Sterrettania Cemetery.
