Melvin Roy “Bud” Bewley, 77, of Edinboro, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Corry, PA, on December 29, 1935, the son of the late Lyle R. and Martha (Diemer) Bewley.
Bud was in the US Airforce from 1954 to 1959. He worked as a Erie County Constable for more than 40 years, loving his job for the duration, he also worked at Perry Plastics in Erie for 30 years. Bud was a lifetime member of the Edinboro Vol. Fire Dept. and the Lions Club in Edinboro. He loved to sit on his front porch of the house with his wife and enjoy socializing, and he also loved his dog Max.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel in 2010, his son, Tony Brooks, Sr., an infant son, Jeffery, and his sister, Virginia (Don) Symthe.
Survivors include his two daughters, Dinaque Bewley Edwards and her husband, Tom, of Saegertown, and Cindy Foster and her friend, Jim Bailey, of Edinboro; a son, Melvin Bewley of Saegertown; a brother Graeme Bewley of Edinboro; two sisters, Lila (Scotty) Scott, of Waterford, and Julie (Richard) Williamson, of Albion; ten grandchildren, Shawn (Janelle), Joshua (Mandy), and Paul (Janeane) Gwin, Alice (Keith Scott) Edwards, Robert Edwards, Tina & Tony Brooks, Missy Lewis, Ann Brooks, and Alex Bewley; also, six great-grandchildren and a very special lady friend, Mary Christian.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. A service will be held there on at 8:30 pm.
