Mary Elizabeth Burge Zimmer, 91, of Erie, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Independence Court of Erie. She was born in Meadville on July 24, 1920. Daughter of the late Ralph and Gladys Flickenger Burge.
She was a longtime active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean. Mary also loved gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was a past member of the McKean Garden Club and a past member of the McKean Hose Co. Auxilary. She loved Western Square Dance and was a member of the Lakewood Lads and Lassies.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard B. Zimmer, on May 12, 2011, her brothers Harold and Charles Burge; her sister Irene Glasgow and her great grandson, Dennis Connolly.
Survivors include her two sons, Cecil Williams and his wife Lois of Arkansas; and Neal Williams and his wife Barb of McKean; her brother William Burge and his wife Marian of Waterford, her sister-in-law, Francis Burge of Waterford, also six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and sixteen great great grandchildren. Also several Nieces and Nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.. A service will be held at the McKean Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Freebourn officiating.
