It is with sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Mary A. Wray.
Mary was born in Union City on February 10, 1950 to Dortha Iona and Charles Scott McLallen. She graduated from General McLane High School in 1968 and went on to earn a BS in Elementary and Special Education from Edinboro State College. Mary will always be remembered for her greatest attribute, her care and compassion while placing the lives of others above her own. She selflessly dedicated her life to saving others through emergency services as an original employee of EmergyCare, Inc., where she retired from in 2015. She was a lifetime member of the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department, and a founding member of the Central Erie County Paramedic Association. Dedicated to developing future generations, Mary spent many years as a 4-H leader and horse show mom. Most recently, Mary found joy in sharing time with her grandchildren, reading, and spending time with her dogs, Karma and Willie, who passed away along with her.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, James and Robert, and sister, Barbara McLallen Kerstetter.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James Wray, whom she married on June 15, 1990. She is also survived by her sisters, Francy McLallen (and family) and Sandy McLallen Weaver (John and family). Mary leaves behind her children, DJ Skelton (Kelly) and Devon Mellin (Garrett), and stepchildren, Trisha (Daryl) Parker and family, and Brian Wray and family. Her grandchildren, who provided her with much pride and joy include Broc, Addyson, and Harper Mellin, and Libby and Meghan Gillette. In addition, Mary leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department, 125 Meadville Street, Edinboro, PA. Mary’s wish was that, upon her passing, all who knew her would take some time to gather together informally to share their favorite Mary story and simply enjoy each other's company.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with her care. To send condolences, please visit www.gluntfuneralhome.com.
