Mary Rose Porto, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014 at Wesbury’s Grace Health Center in Meadville, PA. She was born on January 6, 1921 in Morrisdale, PA, the daughter of the late Bruno and Jenny (Perry) Guidice.
A lifelong resident of Ambridge, PA, Mary Rose received her beauty operator’s license in 1939, and in 1947 she and her husband Fred started and operated Porto Barber and Beauty Salon until 1985.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Fred Porto, a brother Bruno Guidice, and sisters Genevieve Dickson Hargrove and Lucy Bonadio. Mary Rose is survived by her son, Dennis Porto (Dianne) of Edinboro, PA, a daughter Cynthia (Porto) Leonard of Gaithersburg, MD, and four grandchildren, Cara Porto, Pamela Porto, Sarah (Ryan) Taylor, Cassie (David) Leonard, a great grandson Derek Sawer, her brother Anthony Guidice (Vivian), and many nephews and nieces.
Guests will be received at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, with a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 p.m. at Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
