Mark Erdely

Mark Richard Erdely, 58, of Edinboro, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Erie on March 15, 1959, the son of George and Elizabeth Dietrich.

Mark was a 1977 graduate of General McLane High School. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for six years.   He was  a foundry worker at Penn-Union in Edinboro and later the Zurn Corporation in Erie. He also owned and operated MBE Landscaping.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and photograph wildlife. He was a proud member of the NRA and loved target shooting & being an advocate for gun safety and respect for the sport.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Erdely in 2004; a sister, Elizabeth Messner in 2011; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Judy Stangel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Stangel Erdely; a son Jay (Kim) Erdely of McKean; two granddaughters, Danielle and Zoelle; a great-granddaughter, Aerabella; two sisters, Danielle Fugate and Michealle Gensamer; two brothers, Brian (Rene) Dietrich and Joseph (Erika) Erdely, Jr.; two step-brothers, Ron (Chari) Dietrich and Trevor (Lise) Dietrich; a sister-in-law, Mary (Tim) Yates; a special cousin, Dana (Sheri) Erdely and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other cousins.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Allan Thorpe officiating.
