Marie Elena Flynn Fuller passed away peacefully, Friday evening, December 3, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Gae Fuller in Edinboro, PA after an extended illness. She was born on a farm in Washington Township on February 10, 1911, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nina Billings Flynn. Today, the Edinboro Walmart complex is located on that farm. She was just two months away from her one hundredth birthday. She married R.A. Fuller on June 28, 1934. They celebrated their 68th anniversary before R.A.'s passing on March 12, 2003.
Marie attended a one room school located at the corner of route 6N and Fry Road and graduated from Edinboro High School in 1928. She faithfully attended the Edinboro High School Reunions each year. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living graduate. She began her working career as a telephone operator for the Edinboro Telephone Company until direct dialing came into existence in 1934. Later, she was a partner with her husband at Fuller's Market and the Edinboro Hatchery from 1937 to 1956. In 1957 she became a cook for the Edinboro School system and at the time of her retirement in 1973, she was the head cook at Edinboro Elementary School.
Marie was a faithful member of Edinboro United Methodist Church. Marie was a charter member of Edinboro United Methodist Women, a lifetime member of the Edinboro Chapter, No. 359, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the quilting club at her church. Marie and her husband spent their winters in Bradenton, FL and while there, they met and made many friends.
In addition to her daughter, Gae, Marie is survived by her son, Jerry and his wife, Carol of Tacoma, WA, a daughter Joy and her husband, Joseph Estock of Ashtabula, OH. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; Mark Estock, wife Cindy and their children, Brian, Scott, Matthew, Christopher, and Andrew of Conneaut, OH; Beth Estock and husband, Jeff Petrillo and their children, Hannah Joy and Sarah Rose of Portland, OR; Marie Estock and husband, Dj Merrill of Portland, ME; Carrie Fuller and husband, Jim Aspirinio of San Francisco, CA; and Lindsay Fuller and her daughter, Callaghan of Tacoma, WA and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl McWilliams and Clare Flynn and her sisters, Doris Hovis, Edna Scheidemantel, and Elsie Jean Harned, and sister in law, Mary Sherwood and brother-in-law, Max Fuller.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home. 210 Erie St., Edinboro, on Friday, December 10th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11 a.m. service at the Edinboro United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev Lisa Grant.
Burial will be at Edinboro Cemetery.
