Margot Koczan

Margot M. Koczan, 77, of Edinboro, died Saturday, March 20, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 29, 1943 the daughter of the late Arthur and Madge Morstatter.

Margot received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University and then went on to get her master’s degree from the University of Michigan. She was an associate professor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for over 35 years.

Margot enjoyed golf and had bowled in the Edinboro Lanes Wednesday Night Ladies' League for a number of years. She enjoyed baking, cooking for family, and never paying full price. She also enjoyed reading books (usually with a cat on her lap), and listening to public radio (though she wished they played more classical music). For decades every year during Edinboro University's Homecoming Weekend she held a gathering at her house after the parade where former students, coworkers, and friends would come to share soup and baked goods together. She loved to knit and over the years donated blankets to Shriner's Hospital for Children in Erie and Akron Children's Hospital.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Thomas Koczan; two daughters, Katherine Koczan (Karim Aouadi) of Solon, OH and Sarah Koczan of Erie; a brother, Miles Morstatter of Bath, OH; two sisters, Elizabeth Morstatter of Akron, OH and Catherine Listinsky of Moreland Hills, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. All CDC guidelines requiring face masks and social distancing will be in place.
