EDINBORO – Margaret “Maggie” Nimer Matthews, 73, of Edinboro, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 peacefully at her home. She was born in Akron, OH on August 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles and Adel Mousallam Nimer.
She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary for General Maintenance Co., from 1970 until 1976 and Holiday Inn from 1976 until 1986. She graduated from Garfield High School, Akron, Ohio. She attended Washington Valley Church, Washington Township. She was a member of the Shadbush Club, the Order of Eastern Star #359, and Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Jones.
Survivors include by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert Matthews; two daughters, Sheri Shields and her husband, Bryan, of Akron, OH, and Teresa Graham, of Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren, Christine, Casey, and Carol Graham, and Brandon and Bradley Shields; her brother, William Nimer, of FL; also several nieces and nephews..
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Duane Pinney officiating. An Eastern Star service will be held at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday evening. Entombment will be in Mt. Peace Cemetery in Akron, OH.
