John Van Laningham

John Van Laningham, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville, PA.  John was the son of Dr. Leland W. Van Laningham and Florice S. Van Laningham of Edinboro.  He is survived by his brother, Jim Van Laningham.

John lived his entire life in Edinboro, PA.  He graduated from Edinboro High School and later became a member of the kitchen staff at Edinboro University’s Van Houten Dining Hall.  He loved football and was a volunteer with the university football team, attending every game, at home and away, for many years.  He established a scholarship in his name for athletes of the university, which has helped many students over the years meet the cost of tuition.

John will be buried beside his father and mother at Edinboro Cemetery, overlooking the lake.
