John James Colón, Sr., 59, of Millcreek, passed away in the presence of his family on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. He was born in Rochester, NY on October 11,1955, the son of the late Silverio "Pablo" and Rosemary Colón.
John enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his children. He couldn't wait to see them and was a proud dad and pawpaw. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, rooting for his Buffalo Bills and going to Erie Otters games. John had a quick wit, could make you smile and had a strong will. He is in a better place, but will be missed by those whom loved him so.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his Aunt Mary, Uncle Frank and father-in-law, "Jr".
Surviving in addition to his wife, Vanda (Shaffer) Colón, are his two daughters, Roseanne Colón of Charlotte, NC and Sheila (Daniel) Morrin of Clearwater, FL; a son, John Colón, Jr., at home; his granddaughters, Alicía, Tasia, Marisa and Cierra all of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Paul (Christine) Colón, Michael (Lela) Colón and a sister, Ann (Luis) Ortolaza, all of Rochester, NY; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vanda (Don) Stossmeister of McKean, brother-in-laws, Don (Carolyn) Stossmeister of CA, Bill (Anne) Stossmeister of NC, Jeff (Debbie) Shaffer of Albion, Jim (Sue) Shaffer of Girard, Pres (Cheryl) Shaffer of Erie, sister-in-laws, Sue (Terry) Miller of SC, Verna (Doug) Schoonover of Girard, Penny (Beau) Davis of Edinboro, Rinda (Jay) Hirth of Erie and many nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts, and so many friends whom he loved unconditionally.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held there at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
