John Henry Burrows, 83, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Oakmont died Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was born in Harmerville, PA on April 5, 1930. Son of the late George and Helen Hulings Burrows. John was surrounded by his family when he passed.
John will be remembered for many things including his humor, dedication to family especially his wife Carol, and love of the Allegheny River.
He lived a life of service to others proudly serving in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War.
John was a member of the Masonic Order 548, the N.R.A., Rosedale Sportsmens Club, Logans Ferry Gun Club, The Shriners, the Oakmont Lions Club and the Oakmont United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen (Honey) Gottschalk and Doris Hoole.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Bermont Burrows; his daughter Barbara Dolan of Plant City, FL; his son Donald Burrows and his wife Meagan of Manhattan Beach, CA; sister, Georgene Kidzus of Harmerville, PA; four grandchildren, Gretchen Chernick, Christina Zerega, Marah Dolan and Brennan Burrows and one great grandson, his namesake Jack Henry Zerega.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakmont United Methodist Church.
The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, has been entrusted with the care of funeral arrangements.
