Joanne R. Wood

Joanne Ruth Wood, 92, of Edinboro, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 at Manchester Commons. She was born in Erie on Feb. 11, 1932, the daughter of the late Karl and Ethel Fratus. 

Joanne was a member of the Edinboro community for 48 years. She was very active in raising her children and spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren. While her husband played golf, she preferred to watch it all season long on TV. She loved her dogs (7 total throughout her life), enjoyed sitting outside, and she never met a milk chocolate she didn’t love! 

Joanne was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, who she missed dearly these past 18 years; and 2 sisters, Marian Hillard and Edythe Laniewicz.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Amanda Phanco) Wood of Edinboro and Mark (Suzanne Sanner) Wood of Meadville; two daughters, Mimi (Jim Navotny) Wood of Meadville, and Maria (Dicksie Bryant) Wood of West Columbia, SC; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Berry, Britney Osterberg, Elizabeth Whiteman, and Kaitlin Alvarez; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ruby, Opal, Shane, Shaylee and Elliot. 

Friends are invited to gather at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 165 Beach Ave., Cambridge Springs, PA 16403 on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
