Joanne Kathryn (Hohan) McDonald

Joanne H. McDonald, 90, of Uniontown, PA, formerly of Edinboro, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Monarch Meadow Personal Care Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pittsburgh on July 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Michael and Johanna Hohan. 

 She was a public school teacher for many years. Joanne had previously taught at Latrobe, Wilkinsburg, Hopewell, and Cambridge Springs School Districts.

 Joanne had a great passion for supporting her husband Bill’s football teams. Her love for his players and their families was a proud topic of conversation. She always looked at those players as they were sons of her own. Many kept in loyal touch with “Missy Mac” and had a special place in her heart. She loved the Edinboro community, homecoming weekend, and the many close friends she made there. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years: William C. McDonald in 2002, a sister: Mary Louise Forristall, brother Richard Hohan and grandson K.J. Carroll.

 Survivors include a son, David McDonald, of Uniontown; two daughters, Johanna (Ernest) Elgin, of New Jersey and Amy (Daniel) Mulligan, of Edinboro; Grandchildren Abigail, Megan, Cayleigh McDonald, Ern, Grant, Cole and Emerson Elgin, Sean, Daniel and Colleen Mulligan. Two great grandchildren Ellie and Daniel.

 Friends may call at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held there at 2:30 pm. 

The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the 1970 Lambert Bowl Team Scholarship C/O Edinboro University.
