James Turner

James Edward Turner, 78 of McKean, PA passed Sunday, September 26, 2021 after a short illness. He was born to Arnold and Dorothy (New) Turner on February 19, 1943 in Perry County, KY.

Jim served our country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He drove dump truck for Walmer Trucking for many years and retired from maintenance at PHB Manufacturing.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking for large family gatherings. He also enjoyed playing country music, either with his band or around a campfire. He played in several bands, Jim Turner Band, Jim Turner and the Rhythm Men, and Jim Turner Southern Fried. His greatest pleasure, however, was spending time with the beautiful family that he and his wife, JoAnn, created.

You never visited without an offer to join a meal or have a drink. Jim will always be remembered for his fish fries, garbage can beef, homemade French fries, sausage gravy and biscuits and deep fried turkey. He was always looking for a reason to bring his family together. He was never hesitant to lend a hand to anyone who requested his cooking excellence, even if it meant he wouldn't be able to move too well the next day!

Waiting to meet him at the Gates of Heaven are his father, Arnold; his mother, Dorothy; his sisters, Carolyn Sue and Margaret; his son, Shawn Edward; and his daughter, Christine Ellen Hoehn.

Along with his wife of 58 years, JoAnn (Farley), the others that will miss him are his brother, Charles Turner (Julia) of McKean; his sister, Eula Roe (Ken) of Kentucky; his daughters, Patricia Tufts (Donald) of Edinboro and Kimberly Turner (Scott Gunter) of Girard; his son, Allen Turner (Kelli Rager) of McKean, a son-in-law, Richard Hoehn of Edinboro; also, his grandchildren, Tiffany Turner (Jenifer Flagela), Paige Liggett (Joshua), Abbey Curry (Jacob), Cody Turner, Kristen Hiscox, Haley Carter, Chad Hoehn, Lincoln Turner and Owen Turner; four great grandchildren, Jayden and Aubrey Curry and Braxton and Blaze Liggett; as well as the many friends and acquaintances whose lives he has touched.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
