James Staszewski

d. June 23, 2015

James Andrew Staszewski, 47, of McKean, died unexpectedly while at camp in Ashley, Ohio.  James experienced two episodes of cardiac arrest, and left us on June 23, 2015 from the Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio to join his Busha and Grandpa at their camp in heaven. James was born in Erie, on October 2, 1967 to the late James Staszewski and Roberta Hayes Staszewski.

Having a diagnosis of Prader-Willie Syndrome made James' child and adult-hoods a challenge which James accepted and did his very best to be successful at no matter what he did. As a special needs student he graduated from Tech Memorial HS in Erie and then was employed by the workshop of the Gertrude Barber National Institute where James felt he was a contributing member of society. He loved life and sharing his kindness and spirit with friends and family. His many interests included being a staunch Steelers' fan, the Cystic Fibrosis annual walks, the Barber's Beast of the Bay, amusement park trips to Waldameer, Darien Lake, and Cedar Point, horseback riding at TREC, the Rupp's annual corn roast, computer pinball, and sharing goodies with family and friends.

James completed his earthly mission by a successful organ donation including his kidneys, pancreas, liver, lungs, and eyes to waiting USA recipients due to the excellent efforts of Lifeline of Ohio and the Grady Memorial ICU teams.

James is survived by his group home family of Richie, Mark, and Ray and their wonderful staff of Bridget, Terry, “Uncle” Jack, Noel, John, Art, Kacey, Laura, Daniele, and Caroline. Also surviving are his Aunt Janice (Robert) Koca, Uncle Robert (Jenne) Staszewski and many cousins and friends.

Viewing will take place at the Gathering Place of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 Main St, McKean, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, followed by a funeral mass and interment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
