James J. Stachera

James Joseph Stachera, 76, of 1927 Cole Drive, Erie, PA died on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Erie, PA on September 2, 1947, the son of the late Joseph and Doris Stachera. 

James graduated from Central Tech High School, Erie, in 1967. After high school, Jim enlisted in the US Navy and served in Vietnam. He worked as an electrical lineman after returning to Edinboro in 1968 until his retirement. 

Jim was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. He was a leader for the Edinboro Troop #176 and Erie Troop #109. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved camping. Jim was a member and past president of the A.H. Club in Edinboro, a post commander of the Edinboro/McKean VFW #740, and past member of the Edinboro Vol. Fire Department. He was also very involved in the Annual Curly Halmi Game Dinner at Edinboro University.

Survivors include his sister, Susan Krupinski; his son, Jeffery Gardner Stachera and his wife, Christiane, of Ellicott City, MD; his daughter, Wendy Leigh Vodarick and her husband, David, of Leavenworth, KS; and six loving grandchildren, including Jack, Casey, and Madeleine Stachera, and Anne, Claire, and David Vodarick.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. A committal service and Military Honors will be held at Erie County Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 8th at 10am.
