James John Skelton, 86, of Edinboro, died peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by family, leaving to join his beloved Elena Mae who passed away January, 9, 2010.
James was born February 2, 1924, the son of the late Brady James and Sylvia May (Whipple) Skelton.
James and Elena Mae worked as a team on the family dairy farm raising their eight children. He served in U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Tanner from August 1944 through September 1945 also on the USS Panama.
He was preceded in death by his son Brian in 1988, a granddaughter, Vicki Woods in 2006 and also 11 half brothers and sisters.
Suvivors include seven children; Judy Skelton, Donna (Carl) Smith, Bobbi (Sonny) Frick, Dennis (Helen) Skelton, Terry (Trish) Skelton, Woodette (Philip) Sanders, all of Edinboro, and Cindy (Philip) Sowry of Texas; a sister, Jeannette Eisentrager of Idaho; a brother Paul (Sylvia) Skelton of Waterford; also James was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his faithful caregiver, Annie Walsh.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Worrell officiating.
