James Edward Alward, 83, of Edinboro, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Edinboro Manor. He was born Norwalk, Ohio on April 14, 1928. Son of the late Cecil and Edna Long Alward.
James had worked as a rural mail carrier for many years. He was a past Master of Oasis Lodge 416, a thirty three degree Mason, a Noble of the Scottish Rite and a former active member at Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Marvin and Thomas Alward, and his two sisters Irene Biby and Shirley Lewis.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Zola Hills Alward of Edinboro; two sons, Kenneth L. Alward of Edinboro, and Richard C. Alward of Erie; two brothers, Charles Alward and his wife Pat of Cambridge Springs; and John Alward and his wife Wanda of Edinboro; and four sisters, Marjorie Tau and her husband Frank of AZ; Lois Richardson and her husband Darrel on MT; Carol Perlman and her husband Marc of AZ; and Beatrice Cole and her husband Ray of Mill Village.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m..
