Irene Warso Fendya, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016. She was born in New Castle, PA on February 20, 1921.
While living in Edinboro, she worked at First National Bank/Marine Bank of Edinboro and for the Borough of Edinboro. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro and the Edinboro Garden Club.
Irene was a fabulous cook, and as one of the “PIE” sisters, she earned a reputation of making the best pies and soups. She enjoyed family get-togethers, playing Five Hundred, Scrabble, gardening, and music and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Fendya.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Jim) Collopy, Joyce (Fran) Hayden, Michele (Ron) Krull, and Bill (Michele) Fendya; nine grandchildren, Brian Collopy, Jack (Jackie) Collopy, Mark Hayden, Jeff Hayden (fiancé Danielle Dudenhoeffer), Ryan (Karen McClellan) Krull, Britt Krull, Kevin Krull, Kate Fendya, and John Fendya; also three great-grandchildren, Grayson Collopy, Leo Collopy, and Harper Krull.
The family thanks caregivers Elba Burgos, Audrey Seri, and Adwoa Koduah for their compassionate care.
Family and friends may call at the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro on Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 11:00 until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 pm.
