Henry “Hank” J. Tarbell, 87, of Edinboro, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at home. He was born in Edinboro on April 18, 1923, son of the late Jesse and Beatrice Lawrence Tarbell. He was a graduate of Edinboro High School, class of 1941.
Hank operated a dairy farm in Edinboro in partnership with his father until 1961. In addition he was a second generation postal worker in Edinboro, retiring in 1979.
Hank was a loving husband and father as well as pursuing many outdoor interests. He was a member of the Edinboro Sportsman's Club for many years. Hank could often be found on Edinboro Lake and was a master of musky and bass fishing. He enjoyed sharing his outdoor experiences with his family and fond recollections of him on the water and out in the woods will always be remembered.
Some of Hank's other activities included the Edinboro bowling league, wintering in Florida with his beloved wife, Gertrude and spending time with his grandchildren.
Hank was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Tarbell in 1999, his daughter Jill Tarbell in 1973, his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Owen-Tarbell in 2007; a brother Garner Tarbell, and sister Vivian Revak.
Survivors include his two sons, Henry Tarbell, Jr. and John Tarbell, both of Edinboro; and two grandsons, Justin Tarbell, currently residing in Franklin, NC; and Ryan Tarbell, currently residing in Hayfork, CA.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday from, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A brief service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
