EDINBORO - Hazel Altana Peterson, 103, of Edinboro died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Westbury in Meadville. She was born in Washington Township on August 31, 1907. Daughter of the late William and Irene Hotchkiss Millspaw.
Hazel was an assembly worker at Teledyne Penn-Union. She was the first worker they hired in 1945. She also worked for Lang Electric. She was a member of Edinboro Senior Citizens and Conneautee Rebekah Lodge #324. She attended Edinboro United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Peterson in 1969, daughter, Janet Schadler of Kutztown, in 2007, three sisters, Merle Wilcox, Alice Hotchkiss and Grace Walcott, four brothers, Paul, Cecil, Freeman and Carl Millspaw, and daughter-in-law, Ellen Peterson.
Survivors include: one son, Larry Peterson of Sagertown; four daughters, Ruth Hayes of FL, Zelma Loop and her husband, Robert, of Edinboro, Carol Christensen and her husband, Robert, of Port Allegheny, Martha Taylor and her husband, Edward of OR; Son-In-Law, David Schadler of Kutztown, PA; also sixteen grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. A service will be held there Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Drakes Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 W. Eighth Street, Erie, PA 16501.
