Guy “Scott” Sayers, age 56, of Edinboro, passed away Friday July 27, 2012 at Shadyside hospital after a battle with Leukemia. Scott was born in Dubois PA on August 13, 1955 of Maureen Sayers, who survives and the late Blake L .“Mont” Sayers. Scott graduated from Dubois High School. After graduation, he proceeded to serve 4 years in the United States Air Force. While in the air force he was part of “Operation Baby Lift” that took place in the Philippines near the end of the Viet Nam War. Upon leaving the military Scott started his career at the Erie airport; working for the Federal Aviation Administration. There he utilized what he learned in the service, while working as a Radar Systems Technician. Scott recently retired in February of 2011. In his free time he volunteered for the Edinboro Fire Department. Scott dedicated thirty years of his life and time to the community through the fire department and during that time served as both President and Chief. He was a member of the VFW post 740 and the American Legion, post 439. Additionally, Scott was an avid fisherman, kayaker and hunter. He loved everything to do with nature and being outdoors and was always the first one out the door on the first day of fishing season. Furthermore, he was an all around handy man, woodworker and electrician; always there to help a friend with a project or job.
In addition to his father, Scott is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Guy Hassan and Nellie Hassan-Wilson, as well as his paternal grandparents Blake A. Sayers and Elizabeth Sayers. Scott is survived by his mother, Maureen Sayers; His wife, Wendy Sayers; His children, Joshua, Christopher, Meghan and Timothy Sayers, His brother, Reverend LaMount Sayers; his brother Andrew Sayers and his wife Mary Mike Sayers; His sister, Susan Miller and her husband Mark Miller; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
