Grace Mae Louisa (Horn) Pieper, 103, of Edinboro, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Franklin Twp on December 11, 1911, the daughter of the late Herman J. and Lena A. (Fetterolf) Horn.
Grace was the oldest living person in Franklin Twp., at the age 103 1/2 years.
She graduated from Edinboro High School in 1930 and worked at Edinboro State College as a housekeeper to the President for several years. She also worked as Tax Collector for Franklin Twp. for many years.
Grace married Arthur Pieper on August 1, 1934.
She was a member of the Franklin Center United Methodist Church, where she served as Treasurer for more years than can be remembered. Her most loved job was that of Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great-Great Grandmother. All who entered her home felt welcomed and loved. Grace was well known in her church and community for her culinary skills and her baking – especially her pies and homemade dinner rolls. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Grace is preceded in death by her husband Art, her sister, Lula Cosper; brothers, Grant, Clede, Henry and William Horn; and a grandson, Darrell Lohr.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Norma Lohr and Dorothy (Carter) Gebhardt and her husband, Gary, all of Edinboro; 5 grandchildren, Cheri (Dave) Vascovich, Dawn (Dave) Johnson, Jeff (Laura) Carter, David Lohr and Amy (Zack) Cavalier; great-grandchildren, Kimberly (Dusty Curtis) Lohr, Grace (fiancé, Sam Boyle), Hannah, Rachel, Shane and Grady Johnson, Brad (Kristy) Vascovich, Brittney Tadder, Laurel and Will Cavalier, and a great-great granddaughter, Theodora Hope Curtis.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Sunday, May 31st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Monday at 11:00 a.m..
Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
