Gordon Arnett Flood, 86, of Edinboro, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. He was born in Felicity, Ohio on Dec. 17, 1927, the son of the late Milford and Hazel Arnette Flood.
Dr. Flood taught public school music in Nebraska and Kansas, and at the University level in Michigan, Louisiana, Iowa and Pennsylvania. For twenty years he directed the Edinboro University Singers, Chorale and Madrigal Singers. His degrees were granted by the University of Nebraska and Michigan State University. Post-Doctoral study in Higher Education Administration was done at Florida State University. He was twice named “Teacher of the Year”.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Pat” Flood; his brother Raymond Flood; a son-in-law Norman Duncan; and granddaughter Jaymie.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan James and her husband, Duane, of Conneautville; four sons, David Flood and his wife Vickie of Buford, GA; Gary Flood and his wife, LaDora, of Canal Winchester, OH; Mark Flood and his wife, Nadine, of Fredericksburg, VA; Jon Flood and his wife, Patty, of Cambridge Springs; one sister, Audrey Shuler of VA; and eleven grandchildren, Erika, Stephanie, Eric, Kelly, Caleb, Daniel, Jacob, Hannah, Grace, Catherine, and Sean; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held for Gordon and Pat Flood at the Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro has been entrusted with the care of funeral arrangements.
