Goldie Marie Kovaly Pyle Hetz, 90, of Edinboro, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Independence Court in Erie. She was born in McKeesport, PA on May 20, 1923, the daughter of the late Steve and Mary (Medges) Kovaly.
Goldie worked at Marx Toys in Girard on the assembly line as a tester and final inspector for 32 years. She was a A.W.S.D.U. union member and was the first female group leader. Goldie also enjoyed volunteering at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard. She was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Girard where she was involved with the “Quilters” group, the “Seeders and Weeders”, church council and helped with funeral lunches. After moving to Edinboro, she attended Trinity Lutheran Church in McKean. She enjoyed knitting, taking care of her flower beds, making flower arrangements and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 2005; a son, Robert (Butch) Pyle, three brothers, Joseph Medges, Steve Kovaly and Theodore Kovaly; two sisters, Elizabeth and Anna Kovaly and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Ferrara Pyle.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Pyle of McKean; a brother, Robert (Nancy) Kovaly of Glenndale, AZ; four grandchildren, Kenneth R. Pyle, Annette Grenz, Christine Lindsley, Sandy Throop; six great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Pyle.
The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice and Independence Court of Erie for their wonderful care of Goldie, and a special thanks to Peg, Jean, and Mary Beth in Activities.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Main St, McKean, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Freebourn officiating.
