George Calvin Reed, 87, of McLane, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at his home. He was born in Saxton, PA on July 5, 1926, the son of the late Jacob Carl and Vera (McDaniels) Reed.
George worked 35 years for G.E. in Erie, 29 of those years in building 22, where he was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and R.A.G.E. He worked on farms during his youth and was a Findley Lake Boy Scouts Committee member and loved working with all the boys while he lived there. During the depression George was a member of C.C.C. Forest Rangers in the Bedford, County area. He loved God, and was member of the Skeltontown Bible Church where he served as an Elder.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, David Moul and a sister, Bessie Cogan.
Survivors include his loving wife, of 35 years, Susan A. (Dobson) Moul-Reed; two sons, Ronnie (Rita) Reed, and Terry (Beth) Reed, both of Corry; four daughters, Velma “Cricket” Spitman of Corry, Deborah (Bob) Hicks of Murfreesboro, TN, Beth (Larry) Owens of Corry, LaDonna (Mark) Firestone-Peck of Westmoreland, TN; four step-children, Suzie (Lou) Moul Justis-Delaura of Howell, NJ, Shyrl Moul Forker of Fountain, CO, Delene (Houston) Moul Cannon of Lawton, OK, and Daniel Moul of New Port, NC; a beloved ex-daughter in law, Nancy Moul; two sisters, Dorothy Foor of Erie and Lola Foor of Texas; also 27 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Ellis officiating.
