Gary L. Turk, surrounded by love, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in his Edinboro home. He was born August 1, 1951 in Titusville, Pa., son of the late Charles and Roxie Turk. After graduating from Titusville High School in 1969, he earned his Computer Systems Associate's Degree from Erie Business Center in 1972. He went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Technology of Management in 1976 from American University in Washington D.C. Gary worked for Planning Research Corporation in D.C. then returned to the Erie area and worked at Talon, GTE Data Services then Lord Corporation. He finished his career with 20 years at Erie Insurance. Gary loved his family, friends, animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed bicycling and cross country skiing with his friends on Thursdays and Sundays. He also liked to travel, kayak, read, cook and listen to music. He gave back to the community by assisting with YMCA bike tours, the QUAD Games, as a coach and referee coordinator for the Edinboro Youth Soccer Association, as well as donating to local charities. Gary lives on through his son Jesse Turk, daughter Katelyn Landis, husband Kyle, brother Wesley, and sister Susan Strange, husband Allan. Friends may call at Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, PA 16412 on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held privately with immediate family on Monday.
