Gary Edward Barbour, 63, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital.  He was born in Canonsburg, PA on September 20, 1952, the son of the late Grier C. and Marilyn Barbour.

After Gary graduated high school, he attended Penn State University where he earned his Bachelors (BS) degree and then earned his Master (MBA) degree from University of Pittsburgh. He was an associate professor and taught at Edinboro University for over 30 years.

During his youth, Gary was a boy scout and was proud of earning his Eagle Scout. He was involved with the Edinboro Little League, helping as a coach and also was  instrumental in the start of the T-Ball League. Gary was a member of the Lions Club, the Thursday Golf League at Riverside Golf Course, the noon basketball league at EUP and ran the shot clock at almost every one of the home EUP basketball games. He was a very enthusiastic fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Sports Teams, especially the Steelers and the Pirates. Gary was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife of more than 21 years, Kristin (Allen) Barbour, a son Gary E. Barbour, II and his wife, Kristin, of Oakdale, PA; three daughters, Julie E. Miller and her husband, Chuck, of Lake City; Katie J. Barbour and her boyfriend, Tim Stritzinger, of Erie; and Melissa A. Barbour at home; a brother, Larry Barbour and his wife, Barb, of Great Meadows, NJ; six grandchildren, Jordan and Bryce Barbour, Landon, Kelsie, Isiah, and Devin Miller; also survived by the mother of his oldest three children, Joan M. Barbour of Edinboro, and a grand-dog, Sylas.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A service will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro, 4281 Rt. 6N, Edinboro, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Timm High officiating.

Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Gary Barbour Scholarship Fund at Edinboro University of PA, 219 Meadville St., Edinboro, PA 16444.
