Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Willrich Stafford Doucette, age 90, of Draketown Road, Edinboro, and formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Betty was born in Erie, September 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Helena Pitroff Willrich. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Edward M. Stafford who she married on July 20, 1946 at Luther Memorial Church, Erie, her husband of 15 years, Forrest H. Doucette who she married on February 11, 1994 at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, and her brother, Thomas J. Willrich of Edinboro.

She is survived by two sons, David E. (Kristeen Ivan) Stafford of Edinboro, and John E. (Patricia) Stafford of Lawrenceville, GA; three step-daughters, Sandra (Skip) Bartlett of Idaho Falls, ID, Denise (Jimmy) Carpenter of Vallejo, CA, and Sheree (Jim) Lomax of Concord, CA; sister-in-law Sylvia Hossman Willrich of Albion, PA; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty graduated from Edinboro High School in 1942 and Hamot Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was very proud of her profession and served in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps program during World War II. She worked as an R.N. at Hamot Hospital, Erie, and Tucson Medical Center, Tucson, AZ, retiring in 1972. She was a life-time member of the Edinboro Area Historical Society, the Hamot Nurses Alumni Association, the Tucson Medical Center Retirees, and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, September 12, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A service will be held there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery.
