Edwin Machacek

Edwin J. Machacek, 71, of Waterford, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at home. He was born in Erie, on January 3, 1947, the son of the late James and Virginia Machacek.

He began working for Kaiser Aluminum in Erie, before they were bought out by Accuride, where he retired after 45 years as a Hydraulic Press Operator.

He served in the Army for 2 years during Vietnam. He completed his training for food services at Fort George G. Meade, in Maryland.

He had a passion for Chevy Corvettes and Chevy trucks. He enjoyed canoeing, boating, fishing, gardening, and RVing to Ft. Myers, FL. He loved taking his grandson “Peanut” under his wing and teaching him life lessons, guidance and how to be a country boy. C.J. will have memories for the rest of his life.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Machacek.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years; Jacqueline: a daughter, Tricia (Jamie) DeHaas of Erie; a son, Eddie (Amanda) Machacek of Edinboro; a grandson, C.J. “Peanut” DeHaas of Erie; also 2 children from a previous marriage; Shane (Wendy) Machacek, of Cambridge Springs; Carmen (Ehren) McElfresh of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Barbara (Larry) Finazzo of Edinboro; and four additional grandchildren; Rylin, Isaac, Sophia, and Nathaniel.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Draketown Christian Church, 12460 Draketown Rd., Edinboro on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
