Edward Francis O'Day, 65, of Washington Twp, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Clearfield, PA on June 21, 1948, son of the late Thomas Patrick and Ruby Mae Woods O'Day.
Edward joined the US Navy after graduating high school serving stateside during the Viet Nam era. After his time active duty, he continued in the Navy Reserves as a recruiter for many years. Edward had worked at SCI Albion State Prison from the time it was built.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Clearfield. He was an avid golfer, a huge sports fan, especially for Pitt, Penn State and the Steelers. Ed was a history buff, loving to watch what ever he could on TV to learn more. Edward was known for being comical and having a story for everything.
He was preceded in death by his sister Judy Walters.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 25 years, Bernadette A. (Busch) O'Day; one son, Scott Haywood and his wife, Jen of McKean; two daughters, Amy Haywood of Summit and Michelle O'Day-Manning of Curwensville, PA; two brothers, Thomas O'Day and his wife Dawn; and John O'Day and his wife Linda; three sisters, Florence Conaway, Edythe Wingerter and her husband John; and Helen O'Day; three grandchildren, MacKenzie Manning, Cooper Haywood and C.J. Haywood; also many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Dan Hoffman officiating.
