Douglas Matthew Fenell, 54, of Edinboro, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his home. He was born in Erie on May 10, 1957, the son of Rae Johnson Fenell and the late Raymond P. Fenell.
Doug graduated from Harborcreek High School and attended Erie County Technical School. He worked as a machinist at Ameridrives International for 24 years and was in the Steelworkers Union. He enjoyed Gardening, Fishing, Barbequing, Sports and walking his dog Jack.
Doug was a shining light to those who knew him. Even those who met him just once, could tell through his sense of humor and unwavering kindness what an extraordinary person he was. Doug was the rock of his family; doing whatever was needed to help. He will forever be remembered for his laugh, his selflessness, and his ability to bring joy to those around him.
Survivors include his loving wife Janine L. Lewandowski Fenell; a daughter, Adrienne L. Fenell and her boyfriend, Jacob Gembe of Waynesboro, PA; a son, Benjamin V. Fenell and his girlfriend, Anna Kaye Gier, of Erie; five brothers, Raymond P. Fenell and his wife Geraldine, Donald F. Fenell and his wife Dawn, Richard P. Fenell and his wife Cherie, Ronald T. Fenell and his wife, Shelly Kae, and Roger D. Fenell and his wife, Nadine; a sister-in-law, Diane Leggatte and her husband Richard; a brother-in-law, Vincent K. Lewandowski and his wife Charlene; two aunts, Jane Nunes and Rose Deluca, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
There will be a gathering at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, Saturday, February 25, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Bill Sutherland officiating. The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
